Hustle and hard work can help you reach your goals and achieve success, but when you just challenge, and strive and push yourself it can also generate a lot of stress mentally, physically and in your relationships.  Working in this way with a sense of pressure to succeed is very much in masculine energy, and it will enable you to experience success, but probably not fulfillment.  Fulfillment could be defined as soul satisfaction, and is really what we desire when we seek success.  To have a sense of fulfillment you need to balance your masculine energy doing with feminine energy feeling, flow and self-awareness. 

From a neuroscience point of view, learning, memory recall and creative thinking occur when our brain is operating in the frequency of alpha and theta waves. Our brain moves into these frequencies when we are more relaxed and less focused on what is happening around us. When we are working with intense effort, and are very busy and active doing and thinking, then our brain moves into a beta wave frequency. In this frequency our brains are gathering sensory information and short term memory is operating, but less information is being converted to long term memory and we are not connecting into our higher levels of creativity and problem solving. When our brain functions in high beta wave frequencies it shuts down the regions that handle rational thinking, decision making, memory and objective evaluation. High beta waves are common in people experiencing anxiety and stress. Relaxing in our effort allows our brain to move into alpha and theta brain wave frequencies, and insight and solutions can emerge in a way that seems quite effortless.

Below are 3 practical keys to help you operate from more relaxed brain wave frequencies, and to balance your action oriented masculine energy with your nurturing, heart-centred feminine energy in order to achieve success without the stress.

1. Give Yourself Time to Take Care of Your Needs 

Ask yourself: “What do I need to take care of myself today?” and make meeting your needs your priority.  When you take action to show that meeting your needs is important, you create that as an intention, as a standard for how you will be treated, and as a flow of energy that will bring back to you more energy from the Universe to support that. You can even ask yourself throughout the day: “What do I need to take care of myself in this moment?” and then take action in response.

2. Give Yourself Time to Reflect on What You Truly Want In, and For, Your Life

Instead of focusing on what you want to achieve, focus on what you want to FEEL.  What do you want to feel like?  These are your true big picture desires.  If you think you want to live in a really nice house think about why you want that.  What is it going to give you?  For example, you may want to feel comfortable, you may want to feel uplifted by beauty surrounding you, you may want to feel that you have plenty of space around you. 

When you focus on the feeling you want, the why, rather than a specific thing that you think will give you that feeling, you leave space for the magic of the Universe to meet your need in a more wonderful way than you could even imagine.  It also enables you to focus on how you can create those feelings in your life NOW.  We attract more of what we are vibrating.  If you vibrate the feeling that you want now, it will attract into your life more of what creates that feeling in you.

I want to expand a little on the concept of “the magic of the Universe” and the law of attraction. There are people who believe and teach that success comes only through hard work and obsessive effort, and there are people who believe and teach that the law of attraction means that if you focus on what you want and visualize it clearly then the Universe will bring it to you. I think the sweet spot is a balance of both, which you can describe as a balance of masculine and feminine energy. It is a balance of mindset and practice. Our beliefs shape how we perceive life is. If you believe that you have to hustle, and strive and work harder than others in order to succeed, then that will become how life is for you, and your mind will highlight to you evidence of that being how life is. There are many people who have achieved success this way and therefore teach that this is the way to success based on their experience. However, just because many people have had a particular experience does not mean that is true, or true for everybody. It is the reality they have created for themselves through their thoughts and beliefs.

Quantum physics is revealing scientifically what spiritual leaders have long taught – that anything is possible with faith and belief. Everything is energy and there are limitless potentialities and possibilities of how life can evolve. Within that, we have the power to chose which potential we want to make into a physical reality. Theoretically, you could believe that all things simply come to you and create that reality for yourself, however, it wouldn’t make for a very interesting life. The joy is in the journey; in what we experience and learn, and how we grow and expand as our creations unfold. Moreover, we usually need to grow into a new version of ourselves in order to step into manifesting a new reality. Fulfillment comes from taking inspired action with a sense of being in flow, and of being guided and supported by Universal energy.

The belief that success only comes from hard work is based in working to achieve something from a need to be better and prove yourself. Success can come with ease and flow when you take action to bring a desire to physical fruition from a sense of fullness in yourself that overflows. It is not about how much action you take, the true key to success without the stress is the beliefs that underlie the action. The true key is whether or not you feel worthy. If you feel a strong sense of self-worth, then fulfilling success will come with ease and flow. If not, then you will strive and push to earn it.

3. Be Purposeful in Your Tasks

When we don’t choose a focus, we become swept up in the demands of the people and environment around us, which leads to stress, overwhelm and feelings of not being in control.  At the start of each day – or the evening before – give yourself time to write a to do list.  Write down everything you think you want and need to do, and then sort it into 3 categories or lists: ‘Want to’, ‘Have to’ and ‘Should’.  Make the ‘want to’ tasks that are linked to your big picture feeling desires into your priority for the day.  Do them first. Look closely at the ‘have to’ jobs and decide if you do really have to do it, or whether it can be let go, or delegated to someone else (parents, think about things you are doing for your kids that they could be doing for themselves.) 

Let the ‘shoulds’ go completely.  Erase them from your list.  Whenever we think we should do something, we are responding to the desires and expectations of other people rather than our own. 

If other tasks or demands come up over the day, process them through according to these 3 categories rather than simply responding to them automatically.  Are they a ‘Want to’, a ‘Have to’ or a ‘Should’?

When you make meeting your needs a priority, you release the flow of support from the Universe.  You’ll also feel much happier, which is a high vibration emotion, and attracts more high vibration love and joy into your life.   

When you decide what you want and move purposefully towards it, then you send a clear message for other people and the Universe to respond to.  It also helps you to let go of all the tasks and people that don’t contribute to that. It can act as a foundation which helps you to let go of expectations and responsibilities that are not in accordance with your authentic self (usually, these are ‘shoulds’).

It simplifies your life, reduces the amount of stress you feel, and opens space for creative flow. Clearing your energy signal of blocking low vibration feelings like resentment, anger, guilt and fear makes it higher more of the time.  In other words, you become a better match to manifest what you asked for.
