Whose Voice is in Your Head?

Kia ora and hello [FIRST NAME GOES HERE]

Today as I was searching for some old videos I came across some files I had saved in connection to past relationships.

    I kept them for evidence.

I kept them to protect myself.

I kept them to justify myself.

As I read through a couple of them, some old demons reared their head inside me - or rather, I realised that many of the voices that I carried in my head were connected to them.

In this week's article I mention "the noise of having everyone else’s ideas, opinions and desires in your head" and how we often use them as a reference point when we are trying to make decisions.

Most of what we carry in our head in this way is negative - it is the critical, controlling or hurtful words people have said to us in the past.

We attach them to the people who said them, but the truth is, we carry them because they connect to our own fears and doubts.

In this week's article and podcast I share one question that you can ask to help you make decisions from a place of self-love:

What would I do if I truly loved myself?

One of the most self-loving decisions you can make is to let go of what no longer serves you.

For me, it was letting go of those old files.

Which was more than just deleting them.

It was letting go of the need to protect myself in that way.

It was letting go of the fear attached to them.

It was letting go of carrying that belief about myself.

    I deleted the files

and then I danced and physically released the energy from my body - the anger, the hurt, the fear

and I loved myself for criticising and doubting myself in the same way other people had.

What voices are you carrying in your head that you could decide to let go of?

Because it is a decision. It is a conscious choice not to give them any more power over you.

And it is a decision that you have the power to make.

Weekly Article: Stop Trying to Make the Right Decision: One Question That Will Make Every Choice Easier

Do you constantly overthink decisions or worry about making the "right" choice? If so, the problem may not be that you're bad at making decisions. It may simply be that you're asking the wrong question.

In this week's article and podcast I explore why decision-making becomes so much harder in midlife and why trying to find the one "right" answer can leave us mentally exhausted, anxious and stuck in overthinking.

I share a simple question that has completely changed the way I make decisions and explain how shifting from externally driven decisions to internally aligned decisions can help you find greater clarity, confidence and inner peace.
