What Does Coaching with Me Involve?

What is coaching?

I practice co-active, desire-based coaching which is creating a relationship or alliance based container between the coach and the coachee, that empowers the coachee to move forward in their life in the way that they want.  In short, coaching sessions are transformative conversations.  In longer form:

“coaching is not about solving problems, although problems will be solved.  It is not primarily about improving performance, attaining goals, or achieving results, although all of that will certainly happen over time in an effective co-active coaching relationship. . . Coaching is chiefly about discovery, awareness and choice.  It is a way of effectively empowering people to find their own answers, encouraging them and supporting them on the path as they continue to make important choices.”

(Co-active Coaching, Fourth Edition, Henry Kimsey-House, Karen Kimsy-House, Phillip Sandahl, Laura Whitworth.)

What is mindful and embodied coaching?

I practice mindful and embodied coaching.  Embodied coaching is closely linked to somatic therapy which is a body-centred therapy that sees thoughts, emotions, and body sensations as interconnected and influencing each other.  It combines both psychotherapy and physical therapies to facilitate holistic healing.  Practices like yoga, tantra and meditation can be considered somatic therapies, and aspects of these are often incorporated into guided treatments along with breathwork, sounding, movement and self-touch.

Mindful coaching focuses more on operating from the present moment, and allows plenty of space for tuning into yourself and processing thoughts, feelings and sensations.  Going slow and being in the present moment may seem counter-intuitive when you are wanting to move towards a goal, but slowing down allows you to see and connect with the things inside you that have been keeping you from achieving your goal before now.  It also allows you to clearly hear your own inner wisdom. Most of the answers you seek are already within you.

We will use your intuition to tune into your subconscious mind, your body mind, and your inner wisdom to bring loving compassionate acceptance to any pieces of you that need healing or integrating.

Client Feedback

Working with Janine was an amazing experience. I wasn’t sure what to expect going into the
sessions, but Janine’s naturally empathic and nurturing approach immediately put me at ease.  Her consistency, patience, and unconditional acceptance gave me the confidence to brainstorm
experimental ideas without self-censorship. Through active listening, clear communication, and
insightful feedback, Janine helped me clarify my priorities and set attainable goals.

I really appreciate how Janine embraced both the benefits, and the challenges, of my unfiltered
and fluid processing style. She intuitively knew when to tweak the combination of free-flowing
thoughts, structure, and rest I need to allow meaningful cocreation to evolve organically.

I am especially grateful to Janine for teaching me enlightening embodiment techniques that have
been fun and easy to integrate into my daily routine. Working with Janine helped me access the
power and wisdom of my inner resources in new ways, and I consider our sessions together a
valuable investment in myself and my future.

I highly recommend Janine’s coaching services to anyone seeking to explore connections with
their past, present, and future selves, in a safe space, and with a safe heart.

Roles in a Coaching Relationship

The Coach

My main role as a coach is to listen deeply beyond the surface, acknowledge and reflect what you are expressing, and help you to step into curiosity which increases your resourcefulness and sense of personal power.

It is my intention to always use language that affirms you, your gender identity, your choices, your relationships and your sexual orientations.

The Coachee

Your role as a coachee is to show up with as much openness, vulnerability, commitment and courage as you can.

My intention is for our coaching sessions to be a place of empowerment for you and one aspect of this is to create a safer space for you to express all of your yeses, noes and boundaries.  This is a relationship based, co-creative container.  I do not expect you to just do everything I say, or to think that I am always right or know better than you.  We all have our own wisdom, and the true goal of coaching is to help you to tap into and honour the wisdom of your own mind, body and intuition.  If something doesn’t feel right to you, then let me know.  I will not feel offended or push anything onto you.  Sometimes I may miss things, or unintentionally get something wrong, or trigger or offend you.  I would like this to be a space where we can practice open communication and repair when something like that happens.

Coaching Sessions

One-on-one coaching – in person at your place or mine, or by Zoom

Limited numbers
I limit the number of clients on my books so I’m able to give you my full attention and support throughout the coaching process. Contact me to book an available time.

No hidden costs
I value integrity, transparency and professionalism. I won’t try to sell you books, software or seminars. There are no hidden costs. My fees as published below are all you pay, and include written notes and action plans sent to you after each session, and my availability and support between sessions. If at any stage you’d like to end the coaching process for whatever reason, you are free to do so.

I aim to provide you the very best coaching available that ensures you receive outstanding returns on your investment.

Trauma Informed Coach

I am a trauma informed coach, but not a trauma specialist or therapist.  This means that I am trained to recognise signs that a person may be experiencing trauma responses, and to hold a safer space for them, but I am not qualified to diagnose or treat mental and emotional trauma.  I am able to provide additional support if you are receiving trauma therapy from a qualified professional.

60 Minute Clarification Session

NZ$60

This is a great way to get a feel for what coaching with me can offer you.  You come away with clarification around a key desire in your life at the moment.  Clarity often leads to decisions and there is power in clarity and decision.  Often it is really helpful just to sit down with someone and focus on what you really want in life in a way that gives you a clear path.

90 Minute Deep Work Sessions

NZ$180

I create a coaching container that gives you a lot of space to tune in to your body and intuition, which takes time.  For this reason I offer 90 minute coaching sessions.  What we explore in a session will be dictated by your desires and goals, what we agree on, and what evolves from what comes from you during sessions.  Sessions always start with a plan, but this is flexible depending on what is most relevant as we journey through the session.  Aspects that we can cover include:

  • releasing limitations and blocks to achieving desires and goals
  • embodied visualisation practices to explore and transform wounds and issues in relationships
  • healing core wounds of unworthiness and being undeserving
  • exploring, accepting, loving and integrating all of your emotions
  • tuning into your own empowering wisdom
  • inner child re-parenting and integration
  • opening to your sexual energy and creating sexual vibrancy

Transformation can and often does happen in a single session.  Embodied mindfulness practices can work powerfully and quickly.  However, it can take time for us as a coach and coachee to become fully comfortable with one another, and to work through layers of subconscious programming.  For this reason I recommend that if you are going to engage in coaching with me that you make the commitment to yourself to do at least 5 sessions.
